The 9-th Frankfurt Investment Arbitration Moot Court competition took place in Germany on 7-12 March 2016.

The international competition takes the form of step-by-step modeling of a dispute between a foreign investor and a host state. The participating teams prepare submissions on behalf of both parties and represent them in hearings before the tribunal. The specific nature of this moot court is that only practitioners, who have participated in international investment disputes, can serve as arbitrators in the hearings.

The Moscow State University’s team has been participating in this competition for three years, each time making it to the advanced rounds (elimination rounds). In 2016 the team was ranked the 7-th after the preliminary rounds and made it to the play-off of the final stage of the competition, outrunning teams from eminent universities of the United States, Britain, France, Germany and other countries.
